-아/어 있다 & -고 있다 | Expressions of continuity
Supportive verb(or Auxiliary verb) 있다 is the representative of continuity. So the pattern "-아/어 있다" and "-고 있다" are two sides of the same coing: "-어 있다" is used for continuous states while "-고 있다" is about continuous action. 유미가 앉아 있어요. / 유미가 앉고 있어요.
